GREYHOUND.

Stumbled across this label while I was shopping at Tangs. It's from Bangkok & I love how whimsical & adorable the designs are. The Spring/Summer 2011 collection for Playhound By Greyhound is too cute. I love how they matched all the pinks+blues!

Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.- Albus Dumbledore.(Deathly Hallows)

potteraddicts.tumblr.com
Harry Potter.
It's the one thing that I've been obsessed with more than half of my life.
I still remember when I was 7, I was this avid reader that reads EVERYTHING. Harry Potter was a bestseller back then & I just had to read it. The library only had 'Chamber of Secrets' (The second book) so I started with it. It was harder & thicker than any of the books I used to read but I decided to read it anyway.
& I fell in l♥ve.
Who wouldn't, the plot had twists & turns & the entire wizarding world seems so real within the book. As a reader, you get transported into this alternate world where you can utter spells to do anything, ride on broomsticks & fly around & study subjects that seems so interesting! (Defence Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures...) in this absolutely kickass school called Hogwarts.
I remembered begging my parents to buy me the books & reading & re-reading them every now and then. When Goblet of Fire came out, I remembered reading the book until nearly 2am in the morning. If you ask me, that's a pretty intense reading session for a 9year old.

Of course, when the movie came out, I obsessively caught every one of them (except Half Blood Prince). I even watched Prisoner of Azkaban twice & I have 3 of the DVDs at home.

After spending more than half a decade obsessing over the books +movies, I'm feel really sad to know that the entire series is coming to an end. I didn't feel that bad when Deathly Hallows was released because I knew that I still had the movies to look forward to.
But with Deathly Hallows 2 coming out in less than 2 months time, I have to say that I'm starting to have mixed feelings.
I can't wait to see how the movie will depict all the action in the final book.
But I also feel like I'm closing a chapter of my life with the end of the series.

It feels like I'm saying goodbye to an old friend
The years spent waiting, anticipating for the release of the books & movies. The countless times I read & re-read the books. The numerous discussions I had with my fellow HP Diehard fans. (We actually dissect & discuss the stories, like a class discussion but more exciting!)
More than half of my childhood & nearly my entire teenage life was dedicated to this series about a trio led by a boy with a lightning bolt on his head.
It feels bittersweet to have it ending so soon.
Feels like I'm finally growing up.

Toying with this wild idea of getting the Deathly Hallows Sign (in case you don't know, it's the sign above) inked on me. Crazy & totally impulsive but I'm starting to like this idea. It would be like a reminder of all the memories I had growing up associated with this series & also remind me of all the values taught in the book.
Courage. Loyalty. Friendship.
I think I might cry when I finish watching Deathy Hallows 2.

On a lighter note, I WANT TO GO TO THE HARRY POTTER THEME PARK!!!!!!!!

"I AM MY HAIR" - LADY GAGA(HAIR)

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, oh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, woah

Whenever I'm dressed cool,
My parents put up a fight.
(Uh huh, uh huh)
And if I'm a hot shot,
Mom will cut my hair at night.
(Uh huh, uh huh)
And in the morning,
I'm short of my identity.
(Uh huh, uh huh)
I scream Mom and Dad,
Why can't I be who I wanna be?
(Uh huh, uh huh) to be.

I just wanna be myself,
And I want you to love me for who I am.
I just wanna be myself,
And I want you to know, I am my hair.

I've had enough, this is my prayer,
That I'll die living just as free as my hair.
I've had enough, this is my prayer,
That I'll die living just as free as my hair.
I've had enough, I'm not a freak,
I'm just here trying to play cool on the streets
I've had enough, enough, enough,
And this is my prayer, I swear,
I'm as free as my hair.
I'm as free as my hair.
I am my hair.
I am my hair.

As free as my hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair,
Hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair.
As free as my hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair
Hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair.

Sometimes I waltz around,
Put on red highlights.
(Uh huh, uh huh)
Just because I want my friends,
To think I'm dynamite.
(Uh huh, uh huh)
And on Friday rocks in,
High school dance.
(Uh huh, uh huh)
I got my bangs too hot,
That I don't stand a chance.
(Uh huh, uh huh) a chance.

I just wanna be myself,
And I want you to love me for who I am.
I just wanna be myself,
And I want you to know, I am my hair.

I've had enough, this is my prayer,

That I'll die living just as free as my hair.
I've had enough, this is my prayer,
That I'll die living just as free as my hair.
I've had enough, I'm not a freak,
I'm just here trying to play cool on the streets
I've had enough, enough, enough,
And this is my prayer, I swear,
I'm as free as my hair.
I'm as free as my hair.
I am my hair.
I am my hair.

As free as my hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair,
Hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair.
As free as my hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair
Hair, hair, hair,
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair.
Ha-ha-ha-hair.

I just want to be free, I just want to be me
And I want lots of friends who invite me to their parties.
I don't wanna change, and I don't wanna be ashamed.
I'm the spirit of my Hair, it's all the glory that I bare.

I am my hair, I am my hair
I'm my hair, I am my hair
I am my hair, I am my hair
I am my hair, I am my hair
(It's all the glory that I bare)

I am my hair, I am my hair
It's all the glory that I bare
I am my hair, I am my hair
I'm my hair, yeah, yeah
(All the glory that I bare)
I'm my hair, yeah, yeah
(All the glory that I bare)
I'm my hair, yeah, yeah
(All the glory that I bare)
I'm my hair, yeah, yeah, yeah

I've had enough, this is my prayer,
That I'll die living just as free as my hair.
I've had enough, this is my prayer,
That I'll die living just as free as my hair.
I've had enough, I'm not a freak,
I'm just here trying to play cool on the streets
I've had enough, enough, enough,
And this is my prayer, I swear,
I'm as free as my hair.
I'm as free as my hair.
I am my hair.
I am my hair.

Ooh, my hair, my hair.

SONG OF MY LIFE.
I've always struggled with identity issues. About whether I should stick with my beliefs or conform & become a certain kind of person to fit in. My hair has always been an issue that is so related with this struggle. This song, just sums it up. My struggles with being myself vs being like everyone else. My parents/family being on my case for so many things I do(lookwise) which they never approve of.

Her first two lines probably illustrates the scene that occurs so often at my house.
My dad will be saying, "WHAT ARE YOU WEARING, IT'S HIDEOUS."
My brother will be saying,"WAH DAMN UGLY."
& my mum always disapproves of so many things I like & wish to wear.
Don't even bring up the fight about this one shirt....

Haters can hate & say Lady Gaga is autotuned trash that feeds the youth today rubbish. True, her tunes doesn't sound original, her vocals aren't fantastic. But one thing you can't deny that all her songs get you on your feet to dance!
I think a good song is a song that everyone can relate with. & I have to say, this song just sums up my life.

WHEN I GET MARRIED,

All girls want a dream wedding.

Some girls want it with a giant Mercedes Benz / Bentley/ Rolls Royce as their carriage, loads of roses(preferably having rose petals being rained on them), have a gorgeous huge-ass white cake(that no one will eat) & have someone like Mariah Carey as their wedding singer.

Of course, The Dress is the thing that all brides will obsess over.
Some want it with a 10metre long train.
Others want it as large & white with lots of lace/tulle/Swarovski crystals..

As for me, I have not made any plans for my wedding. In fact, it's hard for me to even visualise myself getting married. Sad,really.

Well, if I'm getting married & happen to have a lot of spare ca$h around because I either become
a) filthy rich
or
b) marry someone filthy rich.
I WANT TO WEAR COUTURE FOR MY WEDDING.
Girls usually want to wear Vera Wang. Meh. I'm not like most girls. If I really have such an ability/luck, my dream wedding dress would be something ABSOLUTELY CRAZY,JAW-DROPPING, SHOW-STOPPING, EYE-CATCHING & GOSSIP-INDUCING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I admit, I'm a serious attention whore)

IN FACT, I EVEN HAVE EXAMPLES.

1)ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Kate Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen wedding dress during the royal wedding. Honestly, when I heard it was Alexander McQueen, I thought it would be something absolutely theatrical+stunning with loads of lace, feathers & fabric. But when I saw the dress, it looked pretty....simple for an Alexander McQueen.
But if it were up to me, I would be wearing...
style.com
ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FW2011

  • GREY HARNESS DRESS.
Damn this grey dress is kickass. A mix of BDSM+delicate princess with it's leather harnesses, studs, lather gloves & the grey flowy skirt. The detailing is exquisite. But a little too...provocative for a wedding,no? Nonetheless, it's absolutely gorgeous!!!
  • WHITE FEATHER/RUFFLE SWAN-LAKE HALTER DRESS.
Something my mum, godmum #1 & godmum#2 will approve of.It's loud but not overtly so. So SWAN-LAKEISH! The feathers, raw embroidery & the white studded harness keeps it edgy & crazy but it looks so princessy at the same time. *Swoon*
  • BADASS FRINGED-SEE-THROUGH-LACEY BLACK DRESS.
Major #fuckintense shit here. This dress looks like those in Givenchy Fall Couture 2010(see below) but even crazier with all the fringe.I'll look absolutely badass when I strut down the aisle in this. Gothic, warrior princess-bride. I LIKE.♥. But it'll probably give a handful of wedding guests heart attacks with all that skin & general craziness going on on the dress.
style.com
ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FW2011
Of course, there are the big dresses that so many girls dream of wearing. These two dresses are absolutely stunning. Such exquisite detailing(gorgeous ruffles, embroidery, folds) that Alexander McQueen is so famous for.
However, no matter how gorgeous these two dresses are, I'm not drawn to such big dress.
Chingay performances (BIG-ASS-HEAVY-WIRE-TULLE SKIRT OMGOMGOMG) has taught me that big dresses can hurt you. It can either be in the form of bruises on hips,or backache, or dehydration from how hot&heavy these dresses get.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

2)GIVENCHY
Five words: RICARDO.TISCI.IS.A.GENUS.

style.com
GIVENCHY FALL 2010 COUTURE
There is a reason why couture is so expensive. I can see thousands of hours of hand-crafted work on each & every dress. There's no way a machine can recreate all the finery & details in the dresses above.
The gold dress is particularly stunning. LOOKS LIKE A GOLD,SHINY STUDDED/BEJWELED MERMAID PRINCESS!
style.com
GIVENCHY SS2011 COUTURE
Like Origami! The feathers on the wings look like they're stitched on one by one on the sheer organza(?) fabric.& I love how every white dress has a bright-coloured piece behind.

Although I'm not particularly digging the plastic helmet. Looks like a cross between those Japanese Gundam robot heads and a samurai's helmet.
style.com
GIVENCHY SS2011 COUTURE
You know what this dress reminds me of.
They remind me of bug's wings. Like dragonflies' or butterflies' wings with all it's tiny, barely discernible details.

Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't have ten to a hundred thousands of $$$$ to spare in the future & the prospect of me getting married is pretty far away.

BUT A GIRL CAN DREAM RIGHT!

An after-note: I just realise this. Most girls' dream wedding would be at some exotic location where they would most importantly, they would marry a really dashing, charming hot guy as the groom. My whole post seems to indicate that my dream wedding only involves me wearing couture dresses...
Like I said. I'm not like most girls.

NASTYGALS DO IT BETTER

SHOPNASTYGAL.COM
Kicka$$ tights. I can totally imagine myself pairing them with a ratty oversized T-shirt/tank like above before heading out. Perfect for those lazy days where I'm too braindead to even pair two articles of clothing together. & they'll be perfect for school!!!

Too bad they're USD80 a pop. :'(

shopnastygal.com
& OF COURSE, EVERYTIME I'M ON NASTYGAL, I HAVE TO LOOK AT THESE JEFFREY CAMPBELL BABIES & DROOL/DREAM/IMAGINE THAT I CAN OWN A PAIR.
I love wedged booties/boots. & Jeffrey Campbell's boots always look so awesome! The pink suede ones is also a cheaper alternative to those Minimarket babies I've been lusting after. Unfortunately, these JC ones are half the price...at USD140. Hmmmmmm.....
Hopefully..the Jeffrey Campbell lookalikes from vvestiges will look good+fit me!

Fingers crossed!

FOR MAY.

(Start of Obsession post)
Secret Garden
I am sooooooooooooo outdated. This show was shown in November/December 2010 & I only got around to watching it now. Not that I can help it. I always march to my own beat/dance to my own tune so I always like things after some time.
This drama has got to be one of my favourite dramas in the past few years. I hate to say this but korean dramas hadn't really interested me...much in the past year. I have no idea why. It could be due to my drama-attention-span problems, or it could be that there aren't really any dramas out there that appeal to me.

Secret garden has some serious whacked up shit. There's this strange fantasy element of them switching bodies(which honestly doesn't make much sense) but it's also so hilarious so I can accept it! It can get kind of confusing at times because reading chinese subs to me as they rattle off in Korean is a challenge. & just like standard korean dramas, there must be a Queen Bitch A.K.A THE MOTHER every time a rich boy-poor girl storyline is involved(Boys Over Flowers, anyone?). The storyline is cliched (car accident, coma, some past accident, memory loss) but they still manage to keep it pretty fun with all the weird antics & memorable one-liners. & of course, as a girl, I would gush on&on&on&on about all the absolutely romantic/sweet scenes that Gil Ra Im and Kim Joo Woon share.

I love so many so many so many things!!!!

  •  Hyun Bin♥♥♥ His role in here is so quirky,eccentric,arrogant,strange,cute,dashing.... The list goes on. The parts where he is supposed to be Gil Ra Im just cracks me up. Especially the bra scene!!!!!!!!!!! & HE IS SO HANDSOME!!!!!☺☺☺☺☺
  • All the sweet/tender scenes between the two main leads. I've watched Korean dramas before & they take forever to kiss. & then when I move on to something like 'Gossip Girl', there is at least one kiss/intimate scene every episode. It gets frustrating when I'm watching korean dramas because the pace is so slow.
Very often I'll go, "OH GOD CAN THEY FUCKING KISS EACH OTHER ALREADY?!?!?!?!"
For Secret Garden, I love how there are so many scenes where the characters interact.^^
  • How heartachingly-sweet the show was. Strangely, I didn't really cry at any of the heart-wrenching parts. But I actually teared up at the scene after they got married where they were wrapped in a duvet gazing out the window.
One conclusion from the show that I just want to add:
Forehead kisses has got to be one of those small simple gestures that seem to convey so much feelings/meanings that are unspoken.

OKAY MOVING ON.
THE OUTFIT I WANT TO LIVE IN FOREVER.
White Zara Jeans + (Pretty disgusting) D.I.Y Shredded Tee Shirt.+ Round Shades

The weather is too hot & the flimsy shirt can keep me decent without me sweating like a pig constantly.
I'm still obsessing over all white outfits. Not because of political reasons but merely because white is such an understated colour to wear. I see people wearing all black outfits, but why not all white.
White looks clean & I really love the White Rock&Roll grunge look!
Truthfully, all white is hard to carry off. I always feel like my thighs look extra big in this pair of jeans & I'm always stressing while I'm eating.
Those shades have been my new favourite. They look like Lady Gaga's pair in the Paparazzi video, except that I can;t flip up the lens!

Currently working on another shredded shirt. Fingers crossed that I can finish it soon...& that it'll look good!
HOKKIEN PRAWN MEE
Ohmygod, I can eat Hokkien Prawn Mee everyday...IF IT'S GOOD.
(Thank god there's a stall that sells pretty kickass Hokkien Prawn Mee at the mall below my house!)

2NE1-LONELY
Their new comeback single.
HOLY FUCKING GOLDEN BALLSHIZZ.
THEY ARE WEARING BALMAIN + BURBERRY JACKETS IN THE VIDEO.
HOW RICH IS YG ENTERTAINMENT?!?!?!?

*__*JEALOUS *__*

Elections 2011.

The elections are over. I think Singaporeans will go back to their normally apathetic selves(ironic isn't it). Well, I am Pro-PAP & being in Tanjong Pagar GRC means I'm forever under PAP. Call me a sheep, follower, whatever but I am perfectly happy with them ruling the GRC. After reading Xueyao's blog post, I got inspired & I have a few things to say.

  • I wish Singaporeans weren't so resentful. Yes, the overspending in YOG is an issue that needs investigation on since its taxpayer's money. Housing is getting so expensive, it seems like we can't afford it at this rate. There are so many problems that we as Singaporeans had encountered in these past few years. But is this the reason why we have to vote out a very good minister because we were angry/resentful over such issues?
Shouldn't you have voted for a change in the future? Voted for the party that will promise you something better, something different which would be beneficial to you?
If you voted for the above reasons. Good for you. But if you voted blindly for the opposition party because you were angry that the ruling party had done this & this in the past without careful consideration of what the opposition party had to offer, then I had to say. I wish you weren't so reckless because my future could be compromised because of your recklesness & pettiness.
  • People need to stop supporting opposition parties just because PAP has been "arrogant"/"cocky".
I agree with what Xueyao had said, if they had done a good job, wouldn't it be natural that they become what people would see as "arrogant". & one thing you cannot deny, PAP has done a good job. We had bounced back so rapidly after the recent financial crisis. In fact, not just the recent one, but also several other crises that we had faced in the past. We have a low crime rate. I can walk on the street without worrying about getting shot in the head. Yes, they had mistakes, but who said anything about them being perfect? & how can they please everybody when they are only human.
Some of these opposition parties have ridiculous policies that are obviously just words to appeal with the people. But if you implement them, there are so many other numerous factors that come into play that would negate whatever beneficial effect that is supposed to help the people.

-6.50 min wage: It can alleviate the problem of widening income gap. But it will also cause inflation. Now who will suffer the most with inflation?
-Cutting costs of housing by not carrying out upgrading programmes & not building facilities. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK?!
    - 100B for healthcare using our reserves. Reserves from our healthy surpluses can be used. But they are called reserves for a reason. They are kept to help Singapore when we meet unexpected crises(Like the recent financial crisis). & if you have to cut down GST further, then where will we get money to pay for so many things( Defence, Transport, Education...). Unless you collect more tax... $$$ don't fall from the sky you know.
  • I hope my generation would grow up. Some of the words & things I see on twitter. It's just...SO SELFISH & NAIVE. I'm not saying I am all mature & giving and everything ( I can be very naive/selfish at times too.) But some of the things I see online... I don't even know what to say. It's sad that we spend so much on education and still have people who think, speak & act like that. I hope that 5years, or 10years later when we all become legal voters. our mindsets would have change for the better. We would all see things in a different point of view & be intelligent voters.
End of rant. I think PAP's loss in Aljunied & Hougang may be good in a sense that they would reflect on what they have done. & Worker's Party being one of the most estabilished opposition parties around could mean that they would bring about a positive change to our political landscape. But we have lost an exceptional foreign minister who have done so much to maintain our ties with the other countries & ensuring our national security.
Isn't it our time to reflect too?

SWEDES DO IT BETTER.

IS IT THE FOOD THEY EAT? IS IT THE WATER THEY DRINK? IS IT THE AIR THEY BREATHE?????????

Why are the Swedes so AWESOME!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

First Ikea( Probably the most kickass furniture retailer in the whole wide universe!), now their clothing labels. H&M is the most famous high street label from Sweden but there are a couple that I love too & I WISH THEY WOULD SET UP SHOP IN OUR LOVELY SUNNY HOT-AS-AN-OVEN SINGAPORE!!!!

First, MONKI
I first read about this shop on various blogs( fashiononyourfeet, carolinesmode) When I was in Hong Kong, I was at Langham Place where I was really excited about H&M (which turned out to be a disappointment). However MONKI made my day. The shop was so whimsical! Clothes were hung on hangers suspended from the ceiling and there were the cute fatblackbirds mascot EVERYWHERE. SO ADORABLE! Plus the clothes were cheap. A skirt for S$20-S$25. A top for S$15.
& the fitting rooms were the bomb! The doors have different designs on each side. So when you spin it, if it shows a particular side, it means its occuppied.
Which means there are no locks. Very dangerous because any ignorant person can just come in and spin the doors...
I ♥♥♥ THEIR LOOKBOOKS!
All pictures from monki.com
The styling+the theme always fit each other perfectly. & they always have quirky illustrations/paintings in their lookbook. Normal lookbooks just includes a model posing with the clothes in a blank background. But MONKI always have lovely, detailed, adorable lookbooks!

& their clothes have such adorable names. I WANT ALL THESE NAO NAO NAO NAO!!!
(Someone sponsor me an all expense paid trip to hongkong pwease pwease pwease????)

& THE NEXT BRAND: MINIMARKET

All from minimarket.se
EXCUSE MY HORRIBLE PRT-SCRNING BUT LOOK AT THESE SICK SHIZZ. HOLY THOSE SHOES LOOK LETHAL!!!!! & THE SECOND BOOT IS THE BOOTIE I'VE BEEN LUSTING AFTER SINCE FOREVER!!!!!!!! The raw leather bag is too neat & those round shades are to die for. (Excuse me while I have a gushing sesh about how awesome all the stuff are.)

IF ONLY THEY ARE NOT SO EXPENSIVE.....

Oh well...it sucks that they're not here. So I can only settle for IKEA. Speaking of IKEA, I HAVEN'T HAD THEIR MEATBALLS IN FOREVER.
Maybe I should go there for breakfast tomorrow

Goodnight folks! Don't stay up too late watching the elections results!
