TO SUM IT UP:

Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

I'm gonna kick my feet up then stare at the fan
Turn the TV on, throw my hand in my pants
Nobody's gon' tell me I can't

I'll be lounging on the couch just chilling in my Snuggie
Click to MTV so they can teach me how to dougie
'Cause in my castle I'm the freaking man

Oh yes, I said it, I said it
I said it 'cause I can

Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
Nothing at all, nothing at all

Tomorrow I'll wake up, do some P90X
Find a really nice girl, have some really nice sex
And she's gonna scream out
This is great
(Oh my god, this is great)

Yeah, I might mess around
And get my college degree
I bet my old man will be so proud of me
But sorry pops, you'll just have to wait

Oh yes, I said it, I said it
I said it 'cause I can

Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

No, I ain't gonna comb my hair
'Cause I ain't going anywhere
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

I'll just strut in my birthday suit
And let everything hang loose
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

Nothing at all
Nothing at all
Nothing at all

Today I will:
  • Catch up on my sleep.
  • Play some L4D2.
  • Eat. (I haven't eaten much since 8am)
  • Maybe sew some parts of Steggie together.
  • Blast music really loudly such that my floor vibrates from my awesome bass speakers.
  • Read some fashion blogs.
  • Stone/nua.

"Who is your style inspiration and why?" PART DEUX

Since I'm never inspired by just one thing, I've decided to include a second part of who inspires me. Well this second part is not really a 'who' but more of a 'what'.

Because my second part will be on an entire subculture:

TOKYO STREET-STYLE.
Everyone who knows me personally know I am kinda obssessed with all things Japanese. It probably started with my fixation with violent Japanese anime shows & Hello Kitty when I was six. A very strange combination, I know but who can resist Hello Kitty in all its weird,mouth-less cuteness. Plus all those Japanese anime are always so action-packed, hilarious and the storylines are always so original! & they always pay attention to all the details which makes reading their manga/watching their anime such a pleasure.

Of course, my mum always told me how amazing the country is from her trips there. It's extremely efficient, extremely clean, the people are very polite, how advanced the technology was ( maybe 10years more advanced than Singapore in the past) etc etc etc that made me always fascinated with the country. Actually, I can go as far as to say I am in love with Japan & it's culture even though I've never been there before!

When I started becoming interested in fashion, I've somehow stumbled across a Japanese street-style blog,
& I FELL IN LOVE.
To be honest, Japanese streetstyle is not exactly something everyone would accept. It's can be too wild, too colourful, sometimes too provocative & just too crazy for most people to like.
BUT I LOVE IT!
There are so many types depending on where you go.

  • Harajuku, which in my opinion, is the the place where the most fashionable & funky Japanese kids hang out because it's the shopping district
  • Daikanyama is en exclusive residential area. Expect loads of people who are loaded and are sharply dress, but it has a laid back feel to it!
  • Shibuya is where all those big-eyed,blonde curly hair "KAWAII" Japanese girls hang out at. Not my cup of tea but I have to say that these girls do know a lot about taking care of themselves and looking good.
  • Akihabara! If you watched Akihabara@Deep, you'll know it's where all the Otakus (which refers to Japanese nerds) appear. Loads of people Cosplaying,( actually, the kids cosplay EVERYWHERE), Maid Cafes & other shops related to Japanese manga/Anime. I've really wanted to visit this place because it's bound to be interesting!
  • Koenji is said to be where punk originated in Japan! & it has tons of underground clubs, bars, music records stores & music instrument stores. Kids here have the rock&roll grunge vibe! Another place I would love to visit if I go to Tokyo!!!!!

I love how Japanese are so skilled in the art of layering. Different materials + colours to create outfits that are unique to the person wearing it. Each person caught on camera is like an art piece! There are so many interesting details to look out for in every single outfit! I would love to try out some layering myself but Singapore is too hot to go beyond 3 layers without getting a heatstroke!
Plus they have this skill of wearing all these patterns, colours and textures without looking like a fool. It's like the Japanese are born with an impeccable eye for style.

The part about these Japanese kids on the street that I totally respect is their attitude and they confidence they have. They always have this look like they couldn't give a fuck about what others may think & look so cool even if they may be just wearing some really strange clothes.
Now I think that's something I wish to emulate
Less thinking & just do what I want to do. Fuck what others may think because honestly, it's not worth my time.

I LOVE THIS LOOK SO MUCH! THE COLOURS, THE LAYERING, THE FLOATY SKIRT, THE WEIRD NINJA

CAMEL SHOE, THE RED BAG! ABSOLUTELY MINDBLOWING!!!

Love the bag, the stockings, the leather jacket...EVERYTHING!!!

Not only that, Japanese kids pay so much attention to details. The accessorize like crazy, & somehow make it work! Not just the usuals like jewelry. They pile on crazy amount of badges, funky bags, scarves, hats, hosiery...basically anything that looks cool & work, they'll wear it!I think it takes certain amount of confidence & courage to have the guts to do so

& they always look so well-groomed. Eyebrows always plucked neatly ( I'm always too lazy to get mine trimmed), hair always impeccable, skin always flawless or covered by nicely done makeup, nails always so gorgeous ( even if it's chipped, they still look good) !

Badges, soft-toys, badass studded collar as necklace(but still so adorable). & she actually pinned a lace camisole onto her skirt to give it some sort of design! CRAZY COOL!

Their devil-may-care attitude makes them look so cool even when they're dressed simply!

On days when I'm feeling particularly crazy + creative. I'll go look at some Japanese streetstyle to get inspired. & even if I'm not in the mood to dress. Just going through the photographs can actually inspire me to dress up!

ALL PICTURES ARE FROM DROPSNAP. NONE OF THEM ARE MINE & I DON'T TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR THESE AWESOME-AS-FUCK IMAGES!!!!!

I was looking forward to my Japan trip. But plans have been put on hold because of the March11 earthquake. Radiation problems in Japan would probably mean that I can only get to really visit the country which I am so in love with(but never been to) 3-5 years later when they've rebuilt and things have really settled down.
Disappointing really, but I am willing to wait! After all, given the efficiency and the resilience of the people, I'm sure that Japan will be back on it's feet in no time!
♥ ☺GO JAPAN!☺♥

"Who is your style inspiration and why?" PART UNO

The blog post I had to write about for me to remain in the running for F3 Style Scout since I couldn't attend the event! (God I sound like Tyra Banks in ANTM.)

Truthfully, I'm kinda stumped. Because for me, I don't have just one style inspiration. I get inspiration from everywhere. From the television shows I watched, to the thousands of photographs and editorials scans I see online, to the vintage clothes I find and the music I listen to(2NE1, Lady Gaga,Ke$ha,The Maine). It's hard to pinpoint which is exactly my style inspiration because different people inspire me differently and I dress in different styles depending on my mood.

HENCE I HAVE DECIDED TO WRITE A 3-PART BLOG POST SERIES ABOUT MY STYLE INSPIRATION(S)!

There's no need to but I'm a crazynut like that. Plus this seems fun & I've been having a writer's blog lately(hence the lack of posts).

SO THE FIRST STYLE INSPIRATION IMMA BLOG ABOUT WILL BE...

*INSERT DRUM ROLL HERE*

KATE LANPHEAR
citizencouture.com

She's practically a celebrity in streetstyle blogs & fashion blogs. Being the style director of Elle USA, she's a fixture in the different fashion weeks. She's famous for her plantinum blonde short hair, shitloads of drool-worthy accessories that she always wear on her hands, & her androgynous outfits that are only in black, white or grey. She has the ability to somehow make rock&roll/grunge look impeccably smart!

Honestly, I worship the ground she walks on.
Out of so many fashion editors, writers, stylists that you see at Fashion Week, I feel that I can relate to her dressing sense. I am a girly girl at heart. I do like my skirts&dresses & lace & all the pink/purple/reds. But I would say that I am rather tomboyish. (This is the part of me my mum absolutely hates)
I love mixing masculine pieces with girly clothesI love some things that may be more masculine than most girls can handle. I  also love the concept of women rocking men's tailoring. Sharp jackets, vests, dress shirts, brogues etc.
& because I grew up listening to lots of rock music, I have a weakness for crazy studded accessories, leather jackets, skinnies, boots & silver.
Kate Lanphear is exactly like this. She isn't overly girly & is pretty darn androgynous half the time. ( Her hair is obviously an indication) She wears all these rock&roll, grungey pieces but somehow still look polished.

SHE JUST LOOKS SO EFFORTLESSLY COOL ALL.THE.TIME.

In short, she's such an inspiration to me because she is an example of how I can still remain feminine & be myself without compromising my love for things that may be slightly masculine/grungey/androgynous. & what makes her even more respectable is that she makes it all look so effortless & easy!

Her hair is so fucking awesome. It's short, but edgy, and it always looks sosososo good. I actually save her pictures in my phone and get my hairdresser to cut something similar. This is more like copying than being inspired & my hair is never half as amazing as hers :'( Sad.

CRAZY ACCESSORIES
Stacking & stacking & stacking. My habits of stacking rings and bangles/bracelets are all inspired by her. No joke.

 In her signature all-black looks.
I'm not a big fan of wearing all black because it's really kinda boring. But she layers different textures/accessories together to make all her all-black outfits so interesting. GENIUZ!

& WHEN SHE'S NOT WEARING ALL BLACK.

So when I feel particularly 'Lanphear-ish", I'll stack them up & wear all these!
I LOVE MY  NEW ROUND SHADES+CROSS KNUCKLEDUSTER!

At the end of this post, I've come to realise that she's more of my Style Obsession than Style Inspiration...
Scary how much she influences how I dress.

LOOK OUT FOR PART DEUX OF MY 3PARTSERIES!!!!!
(If I manage to be less lazy/more free/not taking 3 hour naps/not too busy eating/ not working/less absorbed with reading my Fictionpress or fashion blogs to be able to churn out a blog post!)

No promises!

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO...

1.Doing D.I.Y Projects.
I've been taking less shifts at work so that I can have more time to myself. Not really starting on sewing with the sewing machine yet but I'm taking apart lots of clothes first before I start working on them!& if you're wondering why there's a Graphing Calculator there, it's because I'm also using my free time to do math sums! Ohmygod I LOVE simultaneous equations/quadratic equations/complex numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Okay lame, I am just solving some math questions for my tutee, I am not that big of a math nerd.)

2. Sourcing for vintage clothes at my aunt's house treasure chest A.K.A HER STOREROOM
Absolutely amazeballs the shit I find. Hand-embroidered satchel (the crazy colourful one below) from Yunnan, silk( but I believe that the tags are lying) loose tank tops below.
So crazy colourful and silky-shiny I LUB IT LIKE A FAT KID LOVES ICECREAM+MACS+KFC+PIZZAHUT+DOMINOES+POTATO CHIPS+CAKE.

& crazy clothes from the '80s(the clothes below). They are those midriff-baring,tight&bright superuberfucking short tight tank tops/shirts/collared tees that you see people in '80s aerobics videos always wear. It's the kind of clothes that your mum regretted wearing when she was a young & the kind of clothes that generally most people wish will live in the '80s & NEVER MAKE A COMEBACK.
Somehow, I've gotten my hands on a whole bag of them, kept in pristine condition, save for that funky/musty smell old clothes always have. They look cute here don't they!! But hell, they're really uncomfortable to wear(cause they're so short/tight) & none of the pants I have( other than my high-waisted pants) can match them.
BUT THEY LOOK SO AWESOME! SO I SHALL TRY AND MAKE THEM WORK!

WISH ME LUCK!

OH I FINALLY HAVE MY TAIWAN+HONGKONG PHOTOS UPLOADED!!!

Finally assuming my throne, trying out some of Astroboy's shoes & hanging out with Ms Marilyn Monroe.
I ♥ MADAME TUSSAUDS!
More updates soon!!

"NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY, WE STILL REMAIN FRAGILE AND BROKEN INSIDE"
Ohmygod, SMU Biz interview in 1.5hours time. I totally don't feel anything for the whole day but I'm starting to get really nervous. Shizzz I hope I do well!
Watched Morning Glory. It's pretty hilarious! Couldn't get enough of the part when Ernie the weatherman went on the rollercoaster/parachute/flew in a fighter jet.

Have this really insane D-I-Y idea in my head! I wanna do it!! Might attempt it tomorrow if I have enough materials. Will keep you guys posted on the outcome!
